Baitul Maal New Zealand aims to make the process of calculating zakat ul-mal as simple as possible. We have broken down the calculation process into zakatable assets (gold, silver, cash, business profit etc) so you can calculate the zakat ul-mal due easily.

The amount of zakat ul-mal you need to pay will be determined once you have calculated the value of your net assets. You then need to see whether your net assets are equal to, or exceed, the Nisab threshold.

The price of pure gold and pure silver change regularly. See the current prices here. Calculate the Nisab value by multiplying the price in NZ $ of either: pure gold per gram x 87.48; or pure silver per gram x 612. Enter this value into the first field below.
