Baitul Maal New Zealand has launched an emergency appeal to provide urgent humanitarian assistance to populations in Palestine affected by a recent upsurge in violence.

“People in Palestine are in need of critical aid, medical assistance, food, water and shelter,” said Mohammed Afiz, Chairperson of Baitul Maal New Zealand.
“A large number of homes have been destroyed and a large number of people have been displaced.”
“Baitul Maal New Zealand will play its part to collect and distribute financial support to the people who need us right now.”
Baitul Maal New Zealand was established by the Federation of Islamic Associations of New Zealand (FIANZ) in 2011 to resurrect the Islamic Baitul Maal (“House of wealth”) system for the collection and distribution of Islamic charity and to introduce to New Zealand the concept of Waqf (perpetual trust for charitable purposes).
