Give your Sadaqah to Baitul Maal New Zealand this Ramadhan

Everyone is invited to give voluntary charity (Sadaqah) to contribute to the operating costs of Baitul Maal New Zealand in Ramadhan in 2023G/1444H.

“There is great emphasis in Islam on charity, with multiple mentions in the Quran and Hadith,” said Mohammed Afiz, Chairperson of Baitul Maal New Zealand.

“There are two forms of charity in Islam – obligatory and voluntary, called Zakah and Sadaqah respectively.”

“Baitul Maal New Zealand is a registered charitable trust and is registered as a charity on the Charities Register. We are governed by a voluntary board consisting of five trustees. Contributing to our operating costs is a form of Sadaqah.”

Baitul Maal New Zealand was established by the Federation of Islamic Associations of New Zealand (FIANZ) in 2011 to resurrect the Islamic Baitul Maal (“House of wealth”) system for the collection and distribution of Islamic charity and to introduce to New Zealand the concept of Waqf (perpetual trust for charitable purposes).
