Ramadhan Mubarak from Baitul Maal New Zealand

Baitul Maal New Zealand wishes everyone a blessed Ramadhan in 2023G/1444H. If anyone is unable to fast for a legitimate reason and unable to make it up later, they should pay NZ $15 Fidyah per fast missed for distribution to the needy.

“Ramadhan is the most blessed month of the Islamic calendar, in which Allah Almighty guides us to good deeds. Fasting during Ramadhan is Fardh (obligatory),” said Mohammed Afiz, Chairperson of Baitul Maal New Zealand.

“If anyone is unable to do this due to chronic illness or old age etc then they must pay Fidyah, to feed a poor person for each day a fast is missed.”

“In Ramadhan 2022G/1443H Baitul Maal New Zealand collected and distributed NZ $100,000 in Islamic charity for needy Muslims locally and internationally, including Fidyah.”

Baitul Maal New Zealand was established by the Federation of Islamic Associations of New Zealand (FIANZ) in 2011 to resurrect the Islamic Baitul Maal (“House of wealth”) system for the collection and distribution of Islamic charity and to introduce to New Zealand the concept of Waqf (perpetual trust for charitable purposes).
